Running to End Hunger—The Foodie 5K | April 7, 2018
Dust off your athletic shoes and build up your appetite for the Northern Illinois Food Bank Foodie 5K!
April 7, 2018, is the Northern Illinois Food Bank’s Foodie 5K at Cantigny Park, and we couldn’t be happier or more proud to be participating in this event for a good cause.
The Northern Illinois Food Bank is a true leader in the northern Illinois community, helping to solve hunger through nutritious meals for those in need and brilliant partnerships with like-minded organizations. Last year alone, the Food Bank donated over 42 million meals to hungry people right here in our own country. The Foodie 5K aims to earn money toward future donations of food for hungry families in need. For every $1 donated, the food bank is able to provide $8 worth the groceries—an amazing amount! That means that a $25 donation gifts $200 in groceries, and it’s not hard to see how that could make a huge difference in a hungry family’s life.
Naturally, when we at That’s Caring hear about a company or organization that’s helping to end hunger, we love to support the cause because it’s our cause, too! And we are proud to say that this is our fourth year participating as a team in event.
It’s no secret that the That’s Caring mission is to help hungry children in food-insecure households obtain the nutritious, nourishing foods they need to be happy, active and healthy individuals. During weekends, those food-insecure kids do not have access to subsidized school meals, meaning many of them go hungry throughout the Friday to Sunday time span.
How does our cause work? Purchasing gift boxes from our line of high end gifts (Apparel, Bakery Gifts, Confections and Wine & Cheese Gifts) donates supplies for weekend bags of food—including nonperishable items to hungry children right here in the United States.
The Foodie 5K will take place in Cantigny Park in Wheaton, IL, at 9:00am. If you’d like to help us support this great cause, visit our Foodie 5K Fundraising page (We are running, of course!) and feel free to make a donation to help hungry families and hungry kids in our area. You also have the option to join in the fun by starting a team of your own or joining ours!
Remember, every little bit helps—even just $1.
