When a child goes hungry, he or she struggles with things like school work, energy levels, growth and development.
For many food-insecure children, the only square meal they receive each day comes from their school’s lunch programs. That means that when a child goes home for the weekend to a food-insecure household, they often go hungry.
The weekend bag program is designed to help feed those children over the weekend while they are away from school, providing them with nutritious, well-balanced yet fun foods that will sustain them until Monday comes around.
Our bags are filled with items such as granola bars, cereal, oatmeal, canned fruits and vegetables, ravioli, macaroni and cheese, juice boxes and pudding—items kids love that will also give them the sustenance they need.
Weekend bag programs, like this, are changing the lives of children in need.
